CAROLYN SUE VALDEZ, daughter of Dairl and Lucille (McCardie) Claxton, was born on April 27, 1963, in Smithville, Missouri and passed away on August 5, 2019, in Springfield.

On November 26, 1983, she was united in marriage with Ramon Valdez and to this union three sons were born.  Ramon preceded her in death on January 3, 2012.

Carolyn was an avid reader. She loved wide varieties of music, having been a state music champion herself. Her expansive knowledge of archaeology, history, and theology could rival that of any college professor.

She was very proud of her sons.  She loved cooking for her family. They enjoyed the feasts she would prepare for them.  They enjoyed their family time together, the traditions of the seasons and sitting down and watching movies together and sharing in her laughter, these are all moments they will treasure forever.

Carolyn is survived by her three sons: Lieutenant Commander, Emilio Valdez, USN, (Erin), Travis, AFB, CA, Alejandro Valdez (Meghan), St. Louis, MO, and Benjamin Valdez, Marshfield, MO; three sisters: Sherry Zwally, Marshfield, MO, Bonnie Christiansen, Blair, NE, and Judy Moore (Dale), Blair, NE; one brother: Doug Claxton, Fort Calhoun, NE; and one granddaughter, who she enjoyed reading to, Ellie Valdez.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dale Claxton and two brothers-in-law: Jerry Zwally and Lyle Christiansen.
