John Wallis Dickey

 
 

John Wallis Dickey, Marshfield, Missouri and a longtime summer resident of Little Compton, Rhode Island, was born December 23, 1927, to Charles Wallis and Edoline (Stephens) Dickey. He departed this life June 1, 2022, at Cox South, Springfield, at the age of 94.

John served in the United States Army. He graduated from The University of Missouri where he was a member of Sigma Chi and as a Rhodes Scholar attended Jesus College at Oxford University. For more than forty years he practiced law at Sullivan and Cromwell in New York and London. He enjoyed spending time reading books, listening to classical and jazz music, and attending opera and ballet performances. He liked to watch old movies and sports, especially college football. He was very interested in the history of WWII, and he loved to travel.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Samuel Stephens Dickey; his aunts, Elizabeth Dickey Blaine (Harry) and Ella Dickey.

He is survived by his wife, Emilie Dickey, who was united in marriage July 4, 1964; his children, Stephen John Dickey (Cynthia), Pasadena, CA, Elizabeth Blaine Dickey, Chicago, IL, Charles Wallis Dickey, Jefferson, WI; three grandchildren, Sarah Helen Condomitti (Daniel), Thomas Steffens Dickey, John Ferrer Dickey; one great grandchild, Jeremy Philip Condomitti; and many devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Marshfield United Methodist Church with interment to follow in Marshfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield.
