Donald William Fraker

Donald (Don) William Fraker, son of Fred and Irene (Thomas) Fraker was born February 16, 1930 in Springfield, Missouri and passed away at his home in Marshfield surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the age of 88.    

 Don met the love of his life, Ada Lois (Rost) and they were married at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in 1951 by Reverend Paul Hannah. Don was a life-time member of the Marshfield United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for nearly 60 years.  He also sang in a men’s quartet for many years which was very special to him after his retirement.

Don was a past president of the Marshfield Lion's Club and member of the Webster County Fair Board, United Methodist Men, and the Men’s Breakfast Club for over 50 years.

 Don was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 142.  He took great pride in leading the Marshfield Independence Day Parade carrying the flags and pulling the veterans’ float for nearly 20 years.  Don’s working career also included Kraft Foods, Citizens State Bank, Missouri State Department of Agriculture, United Savings and Loan, and keeping up the family farm.  Don had a special place in his heart for animals and for the American Flag and the country it represents.

Don is survived by three sons, Mike (Julie) Fraker of Rogersville, Lyndall (Melanie) Fraker of Marshfield and Barth Fraker of Marshfield;  three granddaughters, Annie Smith of Fordland, Callie (Jeff) Mitchell of Nixa, Kasey (Axel) Thiele of Springfield; two grandsons, Landon and Logan Fraker of Marshfield;  six great-grandchildren, Grant and Sara Smith of Fordland, Dylan and Avid Mitchell of Nixa, Emmett and Huxley Thiele of Springfield; in-laws, June Criger, Phoebe Cleir, Donald and Leona Rost, and EL and Delores Rost all of Marshfield.  

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 59 years, Lois.  Also preceding him in death were his grandparents, Will and Laura Fraker and Willie and Mollie Thomas;  brother, Sheriff Eugene Fraker and wife Alberta; father and mother-in-law Kail and Josie Rost; brothers-in-law Bob Rost and wife Shirley, Joe Paul Cleir and John Criger.

The family wishes to thank the many caregivers, the Marshfield United Methodist Church Choir and the many friends that have done various tasks for Don and the family over the past several years. In lieu of flowers, the family has established the Don and Lois Fraker scholarship fund through the Marshfield Public Schools Foundation. Funeral services for Don Fraker will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018 in the Marshfield United Methodist Church, Marshfield, MO, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow in Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be before the funeral services from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Marshfield United Methodist Church.
