Gary Glendon Strickland
Gary Glendon Strickland went home to Jesus on December 20, 2020 at the age of 75.
Gary was born on December 8, 1945 in Springfield, MO to Bob and Ruby Strickland. As a young person, he played violin and viola in the Parkview High School orchestra. He was baptized into the Lord at the age of 10.
Gary met his wife of 55 years, Roberta Clevenger, in Sunday School at Purdy Christian Church in 1961. They married 4 years later on May 30, 1965 and went on to have two sons, Gregory and Christopher Strickland. After working for Wal-Mart as a store manager in various states (Missouri, Oklahoma, and Mississippi), they landed in Marshfield, MO in 1989.
In addition to being a long-time employee of Walmart and dedicated father, Gary had a weekend ministry for 16 years in Collins, MO where he preached the Word of God, led worship, and pastored t`he people of Collins Christian Church. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God which he shared with his family and those he served.
Gary is proceeded in death by his parents, Bob and Ruby, and brothers Dennis and David. He is survived by his wife, Roberta, his brothers Rex (Cathy) and Rick (Martha), and his children Greg (Lori) and Chris (Amber). He is also is survived and adored as “Papa” by his grandchildren, Evan (Kourtney), Nathan (Madison), Truli, Eden, Eli, Tobe, and Chloe and his great-grandchildren, Koraline, Ayla, Allie, and Atlas. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary will be remembered as devoted husband, loving dad, adored Papa, but most importantly Christ follower.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 26, 2020 in the Marshfield Cemetery.
Friends may visit at their convenience at Fraker Funeral Home, 1131 State Highway A, Marshfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Christian Church and may be left with the funeral home.
