Barbara K. Grant

Barbara Kae Grant, Springfield, was born April 23, 1944, in West Bend, Iowa, to Gerald and Edith (Bell) Sprong. She departed this life on October 3, 2024, in Mercy Hospital at the age of 80.

Barbara had worked as a cosmetologist, and for many years she worked part-time styling ladies hair at Webco Manor Assisted Living. She had also worked for Marshfield schools food service. Barbara loved all things that involved plants and flowers. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Marshfield and enjoyed volunteering her time there in the Altar Guild and with church communications.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Tom Sprong.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gordon Grant, of the home; her daughter, Dr. Heather Newman and husband Dr. Frank Newman of Springfield; four grandchildren, Grant Cline and fiancé Mali Krosschell, Weston Cline, Addisyn Newman, and Greyson Newman; two sisters and their husbands, Connie McDonough and Patrick of Elgin, MN, and Peg Welte and Todd of Nixa; and her brother, Darwin Sprong, of Ames Iowa. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends that were very special to her. 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Peace Lutheran Church, 300 E. Washington St., Marshfield, with visitation before services from 9:30 until service time. Interment will be in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, 1638 E. Highway 76, Branson, at 2:30 p.m. on October 8. All services are under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.
