Beulah Catherine Headings

Beulah Catherine (Kropf) (Hostetler) Headings, daughter of Allen and Viola (Shrock) Kropf, was born on September 3, 1932, in Shelbyville, Illinois. She peacefully passed away on August 7, 2024, at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 4 days, at the home of her son Gaylord and Katie Hostetler, where she made her home since February of 2022 after she had fallen and broken her hip in January. She had over 2 good years there, till she rapidly declined in her last days and died from complications of pneumonia.

She accepted Christ as her Savior in her youth and was baptized on the confession of her faith. She was faithful member of the Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church at Buffalo, MO, at the time of her death.

On February 15, 1955, she was united in marriage to Wilmer David Hostetler, son of Herman and Laura Hostetler at Tampico, IL. They shared life together for over 27 years, till his passing on May 17, 1982. To this union were born 6 children, Loren and Wife Rosalie, Everton, MO; Gaylord and wife Katie, Buffalo, MO; Ellen Rose (died in infancy); Ray, Buffalo, MO; Harvey and wife Linda, Buffalo, MO; and Leon, who died on August 17, 1999, in a traffic accident when he and his wife Paula were on their way home to Mena, AR.

On September 4, 1983, she was married to Ira J. Headings at Buffalo, MO, sharing over 2 years together, till his death on December 13, 1985.

Surviving besides her children and daughter-in-law, Paula Brown, are 18 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren. Also 1 brother, Ervil Kropf, Halfway, MO; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ann Kropf, Halfway, MO; and Anna Kropf, Vandalia, MO.

Preceding her in death are her parents, both husbands, children Ellen and Leon, 1 grandson Jacob, 3 great grandchildren, Jodi, Malachi and Sophia, 2 brothers, Wayne and Charles, and sister-in-law, Carol Kropf.

Mom was known for her honest and practical ways, and we do well to follow her example of faithfulness and simplicity. She had a concern for the spiritual welfare of her family and the church. Leon Grandma, as she was fondly called by her family, was very patient, and appreciative of the care given to her. A special thanks to Gaylord and Katie for their constant loving care, and to the granddaughters who gave their time and support in helping with grandma.

A heartfelt thanks to all for the prayers and support, and the help and sympathy at the time of her passing.

Funeral services were in the Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
