Lester A. Hyder
Lester Allen Hyder, 69, Niangua, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023 after a short illness in Mercy Hospital, Springfield. Lester was born to Beverly Jean (Hyder) Letterman on April 22, 1953 in Marshfield.
Lester met his wife Paula in high school. They got married December 3rd, 1970, in Marshfield.
He worked some factory jobs, then worked concrete construction and drove a concrete truck for Jess Burney Ready Mix before he moved his family to Liberal, MO to work in the coal mines for 10 ½ years. He then moved back to Niangua where he worked for JJ Jackson Construction. He helped build Buffalo High School, Branson High School and Niangua Elementary School. He went to work doing concrete flat work for himself for awhile, then he worked for Jim Kooiman welding, building dairy stalls for several years before starting his own mowing business until he retired at 62.
He enjoyed fishing and going on hunting trips with his sons and grandsons. He loved playing with his great-grandchildren and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his father Frankie Letterman, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles & Margaret Roberson; his sister-in-law, Beverly Brawley; and one great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Paula (Roberson) Hyder; his sons, Scott Hyder (Angela), Niangua, Heath Hyder (Dana), Marshfield; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his mother, Beverly Letterman, Marshfield; brother-in-law, Junior Brawley, Conway; his siblings, Vickie Smith (Gene), Marshfield, Mike Letterman, Marshfield, Karen Ford, Marshfield; his nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.
Cremation is entrusted to the care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. No services are planned at this time.
