James David Harmon

James David Harmon, son of Eldon Harmon and Alma (King) Harmon, was born October 7, 1919, in Marshfield, Missouri. He passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon at the age of 98.

James served during World War II in the Army as a tank commander. Upon returning to Marshfield, he began a successful career as a building contractor. He was a lifelong member of the Marshfield Christian Church, and had served as a Deacon in his younger years. James enjoyed hunting, traveling out west and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Thelma Harmon of Marshfield and his beloved wife of 66 years Lorene (Cantrell).

Survivors include;  two daughters, Linda Early and her husband, Randy, Saddlebrooke, Missouri; Ginger Groves, Saddlebrooke, Missouri; one grandson, Dustin James Groves and his wife Emily, Dallas, Texas; a sister, Doris Batson, Rolla, Missouri; and one niece, Marsha Walkup, Shawnee, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, MO, with interment following in Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held before services from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
