Joann Lapham
Jessie “Joann” Bass Lapham departed this life April 3, 2020, in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years and six days. Daughter of James Hubert Bass and Pearlie Mae Kelly Bass, she was born March 28th, 1938, near Hartville, Missouri. Joann was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband Kenneth Lapham, her companion, Philip Douglas, her sons, James A. Buttram, and John L. Buttram. She is survived by her sister Wilma Jauregui of Carmel, California, her daughter Deb Mayhew and her husband Matt of Marshfield, Missouri, her son Don Buttram and his wife Ronna of Springfield, Missouri along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Following graduation from Hartville High School in 1955, Joann married and moved to Lemont, Illinois with her husband at the time, Herbert E. Buttram. In 1966, Joann and family moved back to Niangua, Missouri and continued raising her four children. Initially a homemaker and farmer, Joann enjoyed sewing and quilting with friends and family. Later she started a career as a professional seamstress for the H.D. Lee Company in Hartville, Missouri eventually retiring in the mid 1980’s. In retirement, Joann enjoyed attending auctions and collecting, buying, and selling antiques. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Private graveside services will be held at Little Creek Cemetery, Hartville, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.
