Joe Edwin Hobson
Joe Edwin Hobson, 81, of Marshfield, MO, passed away on June 2, 2019 at his home in Marshfield.
Joe was born in Northview, MO to Glenn and Annabelle (Brake) Hobson on May 1, 1938. He graduated from Marshfield High School. He married Jean Carol Davis on June 7, 1960 in Marshfield. He served in the US Navy two years. He farmed and spent many years in the real estate business. Growing up on farms, Joe knew what hard work was and developed a love of nature. Joe was passionate about fishing his entire life. Fishing creeks and local ponds as a boy developed into him chasing large striped bass and catfish in adulthood. He always kept his gear up to date and searching for what was next. Joe also loved shooting. He was a student of such and remarkably well versed. Generously, he assisted others in learning and developing the skills needed for shooting. In his younger adult years, Joe enjoyed motorcycles and racing old cars in pastures. Scuba diving was part of his early life including being a professional salvage diver. For the past 17 years, Joe spent countless hours trading and re-building boats and motors. His large extended family, friends, Church and assisting others was always a primary focus.
Joe is survived by wife Jean Carol, three children: Jennifer and Richard Tag, Elizabeth and Edwin Lehmann of Marshfield, Joe and Susan Hobson of Woodstock, IL. Grandchildren and spouses: Rebecca and David Waxler, Joshua Tag, Lucas Bouldin, Ryleigh Jo Bouldin, Vanessa and Mark Baker, Sara and Mike Marquis, Hannah Hobson, Olivia Hobson. 10 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great, Great Grandchildren. Sister Pat Hobson of Marshfield. A host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Fraker Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 300 E Washington Street, Marshfield, MO, with the Reverend Edwin Lehmann officiating. Burial will follow at Marshfield Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fraker Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church – Good Samaritan Fund, assisting local people in their needs.
