Joseph "Joe" Young

 Joseph “Joe” Roy Young was born March 7, 1951, in Springfield, MO, to John Ivan and Betty (Hailey) Young. He passed away July 20, 2017 at the age of 66.

Joe was a member of the Marshfield Church of the Nazarene. Joe was a life-long member of the community and owned and ran Young’s Electric Service for nearly 40 years. Joe was a founding board member of Marshfield Christian School, but Joe was much more than a board member, Joe was the school’s maintenance man and bus driver. Joe helped with all the sports events, went on field trips, and prayed diligently over all of it. Joe was also active in Men’s Encounter ministry, where he served as Transportation Director and various other things.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ivan and Betty Young; brother-in-law Darrell Shriver; nephew Carey Dean Shriver and niece-in-law Valirea.

Joe is survived by his wife, Sherry; his daughter, Susan Ivie and her husband Kale, Niangua, MO; two sons, Kevin Young and his wife Olivia, Springfield, and Brian Young and his wife Heather, Tulsa, OK; two brothers, John Carey Young, Elk Creek, MO, and James Young and his wife Ellen, Springfield, MO; three sisters, Anne Harpold and her husband Joe, Manassas, VA,  Joyce Lisle and her husband Dean, Columbia, MO, and Martha Shriver, Elk Creek, MO; a special family member, Angie Young; father-in-law and mother- in-law, John and Betty Callaway; Brother and sisters in law, John and Jill Callaway, Gary and Sue Rader, and David Callaway; five grandchildren, Zachery Young, Grace Ivie, Johanna Young, Jake Ivie, and Opal Young; many nieces and nephews; and cousins, Carol and Chuck Cooksey, Chris and Jill Young, and Mark and Desiree Young. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Marshfield Church of the Nazarene, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, followed by burial at St Luke United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Marshfield Church of the Nazarene.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Marshfield Christian School.
