Harold "Don" Letzig
Harold Donald “Don” Letzig, son of Arthur Vincent Letzig and Mary Ruth (Sheets) Letzig Dick, was born December 21, 1938 in Richmond, MO. He passed away at 8:37 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2025 in his home east of Marshfield.
Don retired from being an over the road truck driver. He drove coast to coast and border to border for 42 years. He preferred driving Mack Truck, his C. B. Handle was Donald Duck, most of his contemporaries just called him Duck. Don was an outstanding mechanic; he even had his own shop for a while in the 80’s. If he couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed. His friends and family knew that anytime he sat down at a table for a meal that meal was going to last a long, long time. The long meals are a direct result of so many years “taking a break in the truck stops” to make sure those log books are balanced. Don was a storyteller, he could entertain with tales from the road, on the farm or from his childhood. Don loved country music but it had to be the “old stuff” and he liked to laugh, he made it his priority to make those around him laugh.
He was a faithful member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Childress TX, where he served as an elder and deacon. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Brenda in 2023; one grandson, Tyler Letzig; and his mother-in-law, Sharlene “Pod” Blankenship.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Wolfgeher and husband Wilburt, Independence, Shawna Jones and husband David, Marshfield, and Shelley Letzig, Lee’s Summit, and one son Donnie Letzig, Tonganoxie, KS; his father-in-law, Ronald Blankenship, Marshfield; two brothers, Gary Letzig and wife Judy, Belton and DeWayne Letzig, Springfield; one sister, Arletta Farr and husband Ronnie, Pittsburg; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and several other relatives and friends who cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield. Interment will follow in Marshfield Cemetery.
