Frank Newton Neas

 
 

Frank Newton Neas, 95, was born April 2, 1926 in Marshfield, MO to Jay Richard and Zenith Gertrude (Buck) Neas. He departed this life to his heavenly home on November 30, 2021 at Glenwood Heathcare, Seymour, MO.

Frank grew up on a farm in Conway, MO with seven siblings. He enlisted in the army at age 18 so he could serve his country during WWII. His service began in October, 1944 as he trained with the Seventh Platoon Cavalry at Fort Riley, Kansas. After his training, he arrived in the Philippines in May, 1945, serving as sergeant in the 112th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Luzon until the war ended. Afterwards, while in route to serving in Occupied Japan, he saw from his ship the signing of the Peace Treaty on September 2, 1945 by the Japanese aboard the USS Missouri Battleship in Tokyo Bay. After his service in Japan, Frank returned home in September, 1946.

After dating three weeks and two days, Frank married the love of his life, Audrey Phipps, on January 28, 1952. In their nearly 70 years of marriage, they dairy farmed, built houses, gardened, traveled and served the Lord with gladness. Frank also loved spending time in his workshop building furniture, clocks and various items for friends and loved ones as well as many items for their church.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Matt; brothers Ralph and Edward; sisters Doris, Ruth and Vaun.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lawanda (Phipps) Neas, Marshfield; his daughter, Teresa (Mark) Wickizer, Ozark, MO; his sons, Richard (Susie) Neas, Rogersville, MO; Jeff (Missy) Neas, Springfield, MO; his sister, Carolyn Johnson, Thousand Oaks, CA; his brother J.R. Neas, Springfield, MO; his six grandchildren; his twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Marshfield Christian Church. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:00 pm prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Marshfield Christian Church and left in care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
