Nettie Vina Evans

Nettie Vina Evans (Hicks) 83 years old daughter of Robert Thomas Hicks and Harriet Cordilla Hicks (Young) was born April 4, 1934 and departed this life to go live with the LORD on March 30, 2018.

Nettie was known by her family and friends as a very hard working woman. She worked in several nursing homes over the years, in the dietary department, and her last job at Grand Acres before she retired. She was a homemaker, a mother, a dear friend to many, and substitute mom to several nephews and nieces.  Many of her children’s friends adopted her and called her mom grandma. She was brave, spunky, and a fighter. She fought several serious health issues for years and fooled all the doctors many times by showing them “that she could do it.”

Nettie was the type of person that spoke her mind. She proclaimed being saved at the age of 14 and she knew that she would live with the LORD in heaven when she died.

Nettie is survived by her sister Aletha Winans of Buffalo, MO, her eight children, Johnny Evans of Marshfield, MO, Robert “Tommy” and his wife Joyce “Kay” Evans of Fordland, MO, Tony Evans of Springfield, MO, Richard “Ricky” Evans of Marshfield, MO, Retta and her husband Dan Crawford of Marshfield, MO, Kathy and her husband Paul Douglas “Doug” Pendergrass of Crane, MO, Linda and her husband Phillip Gaddy of Ozark, MO, and Marty Evans of Marshfield, MO, her 22 grandchildren, her 36 great-grandchildren and her 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Nettie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Thomas Evans, 10 siblings, Raymond Keen “a special friend,” several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many of her friends.

Funeral services for Nettie Evans will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018, in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, MO, with interment following in Welch Cemetery, Northview, MO. Visitation will be before the funeral from 10-11 a.m. Thursday April 5 in the funeral home.
