Loma Martina (Sampson) Plavnick, daughter of Fern Samuel “Cotton” Sampson and Mary Christine (Culver) Sampson, was born August 30, 1939 in Springfield, MO. She passed away at 9:27 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, at the age of 85.

Martina was a nurse, Sunday School teacher and trainer, pastor’s wife, and most recently an active member of the Marshfield First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Sunny Sampson; and one great-grandson, Ezra Paul Wellinghoff.

Survivors include her husband of over 62 years, Paul; two children and their spouses, Rev. W. Scott and Anita Plavnick, Mississauga, Ontario and Laura and Rev. Paul Wellinghoff, Eminence, MO; five grandchildren, Nathan and Andrea Plavnick, Charlotte, NC, Hannah and Rev. Allan Huang, Toronto, Ontario, Joshua William Plavnick, Mississauga, Ontario, Elizabeth Wellinghoff, Spring, TX, and Josh and Natalie Wellinghoff, Chicago, IL; five great-grandchildren, Jonathan Todd, Asher Plavnick, Constance Huang, Phineas Huang and Judah James Wellinghoff; four brothers, Tom Sampson, Hartville, MO, JR Sampson, Carthage, MO, Jim Sampson, Hartville, MO and Jack Sampson, Seymour, MO; three sisters, Sonja Iris (Sampson) Nimmo, Kansas City, MO, Naomi Joyce (Sampson) Bridges, Blue Springs, MO, and Jan (Sampson) Buttram, Conway, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2025 in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hartville, MO.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Tuesday in the funeral home.
