Ramona Sue Byrd
Ramona Sue (Sell) Byrd, 73, Seymour, daughter of Edgar and Opal (Davis) Sell was born October 15, 1947 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on September 22, 2021 at her home near Seymour, Missouri.
Ramona was the oldest of four children. Less than two years later she welcomed her sister, Jeannie, into her life. Not long after they welcomed David and Steve to complete the family. She was raised in the St. Paul Lutheran Church with her siblings. Most of her younger years she lived in Niangua, Missouri where she enjoyed visiting her aunt’s farm to have picnics on the rocks while making pictures in the clouds with Jeannie. Most of all she loved pestering her little brother, David while caring for her youngest brother Steve. In her teenage years, their family moved to Marshfield, Missouri where she would meet her high school sweetheart and graduate in 1965.
On September 10, 1965 Ramona was united in marriage to Kenneth Eugene Byrd. To this union, three children were born. Ramona was a lifelong devoted Christian who was strong in her faith and passed those beliefs onto her family. Ramona was a loving, devoted mother and wife who enjoyed time with her family and children. She was blessed with the opportunity to work in the home as a homemaker, dairy farmer, and mother. She enjoyed her time working various jobs, such as cake decorating, making floral arrangements, and at the collector’s office. However, her most treasured job was being a mother and grandma.
In late 1967 Ken and Ramona welcomed their first of three daughters, Melissa Ann, while away from their family living on a Navy Base in Norfolk, Virginia. Later they welcomed Lisa Michelle and Kristie Dawn to complete their family. Their three daughters brought much laughter and excitement to their lives. They enjoyed working the farm and milking cows, hosting family parties, and celebrating holidays surrounded by all of their friends and family. Through their door was a constant stream of children and pets running in and out enjoying the closeness of one another. Her grandchildren have many fond memories of summer days spent with her and having barbeques around the pool. One of Ramona’s most treasured days was celebrating Christmas by feasting and playing games with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from dawn to dusk.
Ramona was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her in-laws Elston and Vada (Mudd) Byrd, three brother-in-laws, Jack, Gary, and Tom, and several aunts, uncles, and friends.
