Russell Lee Claxton, 75, was born January 2, 1944 in Fort Riley, KS, and died Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Cox South Hospital. Russell passed in peace surrounded by loved ones including wife, brother, children, grandchildren, close family and dear friends.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ruth Claxton; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Charles Denner; and his brothers-in-law, Wayne Rippee and Roy Ligon.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Linda Claxton; his brother, John Claxton; his sons, Toby (Shelley), Terry, and Tommy Claxton; his daughter, Teresa Menter (Steven). Russell also leaves six cherished grandchildren, Meagan, Aleshia, Gage, Tristan, Haven, and Justice; and his long time friend, Ronnie Rice.

Russell graduated from Seymour High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Navy until 1966. He and his wife then returned and settled in Seymour where they raised their four children.

Russell, along with his wife, Linda, derived his greatest enjoyment from watching their children and grandchildren playing sports. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He will always be remembered for the love and guidance he shared with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., with visitation following the service. Burial will be in Seymour cemetery at a later date.
