Marsha Lou Buck Shockley

 
 

Marsha Lou Buck Shockley, daughter of Richard V. and Dorothy (Holman) Buck, was born January 19, 1942, in Lebanon, Missouri.  She departed this life on September 6, 2022, at Webco Manor, Marshfield, Missouri at the age of 80 years, 7 months, and 18 days.

            On July 21, 1962, she was united in marriage to Paul Shockley at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conway, Missouri.  To this union two daughters and two sons were born.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Luke Zummo; two brothers-in-law Robert Ivey and Jim LeMaster, and a sister-in-law, JoEtta Buck.

            Marsha is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Paul, of the home; two daughters, Theresa Coryell and her husband, Robert, of Conway, Missouri; Anita Zummo and her husband, Rich, of Springfield, Missouri; and two sons, William Shockley and his wife, Joelle, of Springfield, Missouri; Mark Shockley, of Springfield, Missouri; and eight grandchildren Paul, Rachel, and Joseph Coryell; Nick and Kendall Zummo; and Maria, Elizabeth, Joshua, and Michael Shockley; sisters Kay Ivey, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri; Barbara LeMaster, of Springfield; and Susan Rector and her husband Steve, of Cherry Hills Village, Colorado; and three brothers, Richard Buck, of Protem, Missouri; David Buck and his wife Pat, of Conway, Arkansas; and Mike Buck, of Lebanon, Missouri, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

            She was raised in the Lebanon area and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1960.  She attended Southwest Missouri State College (Missouri State University) for two years.  She was a teacher’s aide for 32 years working with learning disabled students, retiring in May 2008.

            She was a 4-H volunteer for 35 years, involved with her children and then her grandchildren, with eight of those years as a club leader.  She taught a variety of projects such as outdoor related subjects, cake decorating, sewing, photography, cooking, and crafts.

            She enjoyed needlework, sewing, crocheting, stamp collecting, coin collecting, and photography.  She particularly enjoyed designing, making, and hand quilting quilts.  Many family members were recipients of her quilt creations.  Another of her passions was genealogy and family history.  She spent a great deal of time researching family roots and history and creating notebooks and scrapbooks.  She researched obituaries and created a book of those interred at Reed Catholic Cemetery.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conway, Missouri.

            She loved her family dearly and particularly enjoyed activities with her grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed.

Funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Conway with Fr. Charles Peirano officiant. Interment will follow in Reed Catholic Cemetery, Conway, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.

  Holy Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2022, at Fraker Funeral Home, Inc, with visitation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Reed Catholic Cemetery and may be left in care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
