Ed Thurman & Pam Thurman

 
 

Alva Edwin “Ed” Thurman, Niangua, was born on July 2, 1951, in Ava, MO, to Alva Delzel and Frieda Winona (Thomas) Thurman. He departed this life on December 3, 2024, at his home at the age of 73.

Ed was a dedicated state trooper and pilot for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop D, for 38 years where he was admired by many. It was an occupation he truly loved.  In retirement he enjoyed spending time on his farm in Niangua, MO. He found great joy in the company of his children and grandchildren. They were a source of immense pride and happiness for him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Stephanie Phillips.

Ed is survived by two sons, Jonathan Thurman and wife Abby of Springfield, and Ryan Thurman and wife Becky of Scotia, NY; stepdaughter, Monica Rogers of Niangua; son-in-law, Scot Phillips of Springfield; brother, Frank Dean Thurman of Platte City; sister, Linda Neal of Ava; grandchildren, Chandler Thurman, Adelyn Thurman, Isla Thurman, Henry Thurman, Drew Phillips, and Levi Phillips; step-grandchildren, Taylor Swearengin and wife Haley, Alex Daughtery, Kelsey Shockley and husband Lucian, and Connor Rogers; two step-great-grandchildren, Zuriah Shockley and Emerine Shockley.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Marshfield, with visitation before services from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Yates Cemetery, Ava. Services are under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield.

Pamra Ann Thurman, Niangua, was born August 1, 1954, in Davenport, IA, to Paul and Avis (Hobbs) Medlock. She departed this life on December 4, 2024, in Cox South Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 70.

Pam was an LPN for 4 years and a registered nurse for 25 years. She retired from nursing after working in the emergency room at Skaggs Hospital in Branson, MO. She loved her family fiercely which also included neighbors and kids who all knew her as “Granny Pam”.

She always loved peacocks and when she retired to the farm, she did indeed get some but had every other kind of bird as well. She never met an animal she didn’t love, and they all knew where to come if they needed a home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her stepdaughter, Stephanie Phillips.

Pam is survived by her daughter, Monica Rogers of Niangua; two stepsons, Jonathan Thurman and wife Abby of Springfield, and Ryan Thurman and wife Becky of Scotia, NY; sister, Paula Boxrud of Galena; grandchildren, Taylor Swearengin and wife Haley, Alex Daughtery, Kelsey Shockley and husband Lucian, and Connor Rogers; step-grandchildren, Chandler  Thurman, Adelyn Thurman, Isla Thurman, Henry Thurman, Drew Phillips, and Levi Phillips; two great-grandchildren, Zuriah Shockley and Emerine Shockley.
