Marion Franklin Waddell

 
 

Marion Franklin Waddell, son of Marion Franklin and Josephine (Markum) Waddell, was born at home, September 7, 1935 on Lombard St in Springfield, MO and passed away in his home near Fordland on June 23, 2023 at the age of 87.

Frank valued education and was an avid reader known to many local librarians throughout his life. After graduation from Senior High School (54), he attended SMSU earning a BA (58). He enlisted in the Army/ROTC and served for 16 years, separating having attained the rank of Major. His service took him around the world from Germany to Vietnam. He then returned to the Ozarks with his family and ran several businesses, including the DX station and Dream Plating, Inc, in Fordland. He also attended Drury College, completing his MBA (80) while working and raising three kids with his wife. They both loved flying, and as licensed pilots, logged many hours in their Cessna.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 62 years, Betty Lou (Massey) Waddell in 2020.

Survivors include 3 children: Steven Waddell (Vonnie), Mtn. Grove, Jeffery Waddell (Celia/Andrea), Seattle, WA and Stacy Mitchell (Robert), Arroyo Grande, CA; 9 grandchildren;15 great-grandchildren; and his sister Nancy Sue Yeoman (Walter), Fairview Heights, IL.

Cremation is entrusted to the care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc Marshfield MO.

Interment for Frank and Betty will be at Eastlawn Cemetery, Springfield MO.
