John Carey Young
John Carey Young, Elk Creek, MO was born February 25, 1942 in Marshfield, MO to John Ivan and Betty (Hailey) Young. He departed this life peacefully with family at his side on August 23, 2021 in Monte Vista Hills Healthcare Center, Pocatello, ID, at the age of 79.
He enjoyed football, and loved the Kansas City Chiefs, skiing, and spending time with family.
Over the years, he remodeled rental houses, managed apartment buildings and had his own remodeling business. He greatly enjoyed working for himself.
John Carey was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Joseph Roy Young and James Thurman Young.
He is survived by his children, Mary Price and John Young, stepdaughter, Shatyra Cobbins; Siblings: Mary Martha Shriver, Joyce Elaine Lisle, and Jane Anne Harpold: Grandchildren: Cristina Young, Rebeca Young, Kyle Price, and Craig Price, step grandson: Sekou Finley. He was legal guardian and father to Betty Jane Jones. Additionally, he is survived by many close friends and family, especially important in his life were Angie Young and Zelma Finley.
Graveside services will be in St. Luke Cemetery at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2021 under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, August 29 in the funeral home.
John Carey had a very generous and giving heart; in lieu of flowers, he would be happy with individuals donating to their local food bank.
