Noel A. Burchfield
Noel Allen Burchfield, Conway, was born October 25, 1928, in Conway, Missouri, to Arden and Myrtle (Price) Burchfield. He departed this life on September 8, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 94.
Noel was a lifelong farmer of Webster County where he raised beef cattle alongside his brother, Willard, on the family farm once owned by his father, Arden, and grandfather, Robert. Noel graduated from college at Southwest Missouri State College (now Missouri State University). He served one tour of duty with the United States Air Force, stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, New Mexico, and one year at Keflavik Air Base, Keflavik, Iceland.
Noel met Patricia Myers (Pat) while stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, and they married in July 1955. In August 1955, he concluded his tour of duty at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico, receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Staff Sergeant, E-5, and they moved to Missouri. There he worked on the family farm and helped raise four children.
Noel was never one to sit idle. If he wasn’t farming, he was busy refinishing antiques and caning chairs. He found great satisfaction in buying a beat-up antique at an auction and restoring it to a beautiful piece of furniture.
Noel was preceded in death by his parents, Arden and Myrtle Burchfield, his wife, Pat, his sisters, Neva Lou Burchfield and Mary Ann Hall, and his brother, Willard Burchfield. Noel is survived by his children: Arden, Don, Kathy (Bill) Moss, and Laura (Craig) Nordgren; three grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Friberg, Jarrod (Jen) Nordgren, and Joshua (Diona) Moss; five great grandchildren, Sam and Claire Friberg, Addie and Reagan Nordgren, and Elliot Moss; sister-in-law, Mary Adkins; as well as several nieces and nephews.
