Rev. Lester Davis

 
 

Rev. Lester Oralee Davis, Springfield, was born March 18, 1941 in Niangua, MO, son of Mildred Marie “Jane” Henderson. Since the age of 4 he was raised by his mother and her husband, Lloyd Marquis. He departed this life on October 16, 2023 in his home at the age of 82.

Lester was a Freewill Baptist pastor and missionary. He did missionary work in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, and Littleton, New Hampshire. He preached at several churches in Iowa, Texas, and Missouri. Lester was active in Men’s Encounter Ministry. He served in the United States Army. Lester enjoyed reading, studying history, and fishing. He worked in automobile mechanics, and later taught it. He loved family get togethers.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Roger Marquis.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia (Hosiner) Davis; three children, Greg Davis (Donna), White House, TN, Bryan Davis (Lisa), Rogersville, and Becci Hair, Springfield; siblings, Dennis Marquis, Mountain Grove, and Carol Cummins, Rogersville; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Ozark Family Church, 2106 W. Evangel St. Ozark, MO 65721, with interment following in Seymour Masonic Cemetery, Seymour, MO. Visitation will be in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., 1131 State Hwy. A, Marshfield, Friday, October 20, 2023 from 6-7 p.m.
