Nancy Leola (Gintz) Davis

Nancy Leola (Gintz) Davis, daughter of Clifford Leo and Anna Lorine Pfeiffer Gintz, was born in Woodlake, California, on June 14, 1945, and departed this life on October 14, 2023, at the age of 78.

She is survived by her four children – Alicia (Mark) Dawson of Iowa City, Iowa, Carl Jr. (Tammy) Davis of Wichita, Kansas, Tiffany (Sean) Jepsen of Gilbert, Arizona, and Rebecca (Joel) Potter of Norwich, Kansas;  ten grandchildren – Aubree (Tyler) Norris, Davis, Cale, and Bram Dawson, Cameron Davis, Katelyn (Marcus) Saucedo, Emma (Dawson) Marcum, Sela, Emeth, and Jotham Potter; and four great-grandchildren – Kaine Norris, Gabriel, Elijah, and Caleb Saucedo; her sister Martha Kientz, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, three sisters, Faustina Scarbrough, Connie Renner, and Joan Fuller, and four brothers, one in infancy, Clifford Gene, Lewie, and William Gintz.

Nancy attended Rocky Point rural school, just outside of Marshfield, Missouri, and later graduated from Niangua High School.  She was married to Carl LeRoy Davis Sr. on October 1, 1967.  They raised their family in Omaha and Weeping Water, NE, before moving back to Marshfield later in life.  They were married for 53 years before Carl passed away in October of 2020.

Nancy enjoyed the outdoors and always delighted in each new flower in bloom.  She also loved feeding her birds and took great pleasure in the many beautiful, feathered friends who called her yard their home. She cherished the past and sought to preserve its memory when possible.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, was great at jigsaw puzzles, and was passionate about fabric and quilting.  She delighted in babies and children and babysat for many over the years.  That was how they met Clayton Story, who became and remained very important to both Nancy and Carl.  Being a grandma was one of her favorite things, and whether it was snuggling them as new babies, attending grandparents’ days, birthdays, or holiday gatherings - her grandkids were an important part of her world.

She always made attending church a priority.  She found a loving church home at Faith Missionary Church in Weeping Water, where she taught Sunday School for many years.   She took great pleasure in being a faithful member of Ebenezer Church in Marshfield, where she served by taking care of the bookkeeping as well as many other tasks.  Her Sunday evenings at Mt. Sinai quickly became very dear to her as well.  She took great delight in the traveling musicians who would visit and sing some good old-fashioned gospel music.  Her church family was very dear to her, and she prayed regularly for them, her family, and anyone she knew who was in need.

Nancy loved Jesus, read His word daily, shared her faith often, and trusted the Lord completely in every area of her life.  She spent the last year preparing a new home in Kansas.  She was sad to be moving from a community she loved but also excited about her new home and being closer to family.  Even though we are shocked by her sudden loss, we know the Lord is not.  We know that the home He prepared for her is far more wonderful, and she is joyfully living in His presence now.

The visitation will be held from 10 AM to Noon on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Ebenezer Church, 423 Long State Highway P, in Marshfield, MO.  The service will begin at Noon, with interment to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Church and left in the care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
