Elvin (E.L.) Leo Rost

Elvin (E.L.) Leo Rost, son of Robert Kail Rost and Josephine (Goodnight) Rost, was born May 20, 1938 in Marshfield, MO and passed away on July 18, 2018 surrounded by family in the Marshfield Care Center at the age of 80.

E.L. retired from Hutchens Industries after 38 years as a tool and dye maker, following his service in the United States Air Force.

E.L. was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to gospel singings and church trips. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed helping others and meeting with his coffee group.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Sarah Sparks; two brothers, Robert (Bob) Rost and James Lowell Rost; one sister, Lois Fraker; three brothers-in-law, John Criger, Joe Paul Cleir, and Don Fraker; sister-in-law Shirley Rost; and one grandson Sean Hummer.

Survivors include his wife, Delores; son Craig Rost, Springfield; daughter Carri Hummer and her husband, Clayton, Springfield; one grandson, Tyler Hummer, Springfield; one granddaughter, Jessi Hummer, Springfield; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Leona Rost, Marshfield; two sisters, June Criger, and Phoebe Cleir, both of Marshfield; in-laws, Joan Long, Tulsa, Sue Prewett, St. Louis, Gayle and Larry Prater, Dixon, Bart and Janet Sparks, Manchester and Dale and Sharon Sparks, Wentzville; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for E.L. Rost will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Marshfield, MO, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will follow in Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church.
