Florence M. Brown

Florence Mabel (Kelly) Brown, Marshfield, MO was born October 13, 1924 in Pawnee City, NE to James and Mabel (Edwards) Kelly. She departed this life on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the age of 93.

Florence and her family moved to Missouri in 1936. She graduated from Niangua High School in 1942 and married John Alfrey Brown in 1947. To this union, they had two daughters Jan and Jill.

Florence valued education, She obtained her Bachelor Degree from Southwest Missouri State College and earned her Master’s in Education from Drury College.  Florence’s teaching career spanned 32 years including positions at Seymour, Strafford, and Marshfield.

Florence was a member of Hillside Christian Church. She was loved by many people that she touched through education and her heartwarming smile. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Brown; and her siblings, Kenneth Kelly, Clifford Kelly, Dean Kelly, Lucille Poynor, and Norma McNeese.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Jan and Randy Dameron, Jill and Chris Young, two granddaughters, Jessica Robinson (Brandon), Tess Crawford (Nathaniel), all of Marshfield and her sister-in-law, Jane Kelly, Springfield.

Funeral services for Florence Brown will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, with burial following in Black Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be before the funeral from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Black Oak Cemetery and left in care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., P.O. Box 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
