Suzanne Angele (Vlody) Grissom, Marshfield, was born May 29, 1927 to Marcel and Georgette Vlody in Noumea, New Caledonia, a French island in the South Pacific.  She passed away on November 19, 2020 in Strafford, MO at the age of 93.

Suzanne married Sidney Grissom, a member of the U.S. Army who was stationed in New Caledonia during World War II. Suzanne traveled extensively and had lived in both Germany and Taiwan for extended periods. She became fluent in English by reading magazines and listening to the radio and was proud to be a naturalized United States Citizen.

Suzanne loved flowers and gardening, especially roses and pansies. Her display of American Beauty roses was known to literally stop traffic in front of her home in Lebanon, Missouri. In Marshfield, she was awarded “Garden of the month” for her floral efforts.

Suzanne loved music, and was particularly fond of the work of Elvis Presley and Freddy Fender, and she rarely missed a broadcast of “The Lawrence Welk Show.” While she didn’t sing often in front of an audience, she had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed watching soap operas, crocheting, and had a lifelong passion for Chinese art. She was known for her generosity, hospitality, and keen sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney Lee Grissom; a brother, George Vlody; and her sons, Lee Marcel Grissom and Stanley Charles Grissom.

Suzanne is survived by her children, George Grissom and wife Faye, New Brunswick, Canada; Anita Bickle and husband Kirby, Carrizozo, New Mexico; Stephen Grissom and wife Francis, Marshfield; Billy Grissom and wife Becky, Marshfield; Michael Grissom and wife Elizabeth, Columbia, MO; granddaughter Cindy Lloyd and husband Allen, Strafford; eighteen other grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; and nineteen great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., with interment following in Marshfield Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 1-2 p.m. before services.
