Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Hogan

 
 

Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Hogan, of Strafford, was born December 30, 1931, in Peoria, IL, to Roy L. and Florence Enid (Dudley) Berry. She went home to be with her Lord September 27, 2023, in her home at the age of 91.  

Betty and her husband Shirley were married over 61 years and owned and operated Mom’s Café in Marshfield for many years. Shirley was smitten when he met Betty at Steak and Shake where she worked, and the rest was history! She was also a member of the Landmark Church in Strafford.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother; her husband, Shirley Alford Hogan; and her brother, Devere “Bub” Berry.

She is survived by children; daughter Shirley Jean West (Steve) of Springfield; daughter Kristine Johnson (Michael) of Springfield; daughter Kathleen Bumgarner (Gene) of Springfield; a son, Gary Hogan of Conway; and an adopted grandson, Allen Hogan, of Springfield. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Terry Bumgarner (Penny); Jerry Bumgarner (Jayne); Michele Ebert (Andrew); and Dennis Newberry (Angela Wilfong); eight great grandchildren; Brittany Bumgarner, Justin Bumgarner (Sarah), Faith Roepke (Colton), Andrea Ebert, Sean and Wyatt Newberry, Clara and Ameila Bumgarner; two great great grandchildren; Waylon and Lita Bumgarner; and Betty’s special caregiver and friend, Mona Owens.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023, in the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2023, in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, MO. Interment will be in Welch Cemetery, Northview, MO, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.
