Acey Wayne Holmes

Acey Wayne Holmes, Marshfield, MO, was born on March 17, 1937, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Claude and Oma (Lovelace) Holmes. He departed this life on June 27, 2023, in his home at the age of 86.

Acey had worked in road construction for the highway department. He was a long-time dairy farmer who loved working on his farm. Along with his wife Pat, Acey had a home daycare for many years, where he was known by the children who adored him as “Papa Acey.” He was a member of and served as a Sunday school teacher at Faith Southern Baptist Church. Acey was an avid gardener and enjoyed giving much of his produce away to others. He was known for making a terrific stew.

He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers and sisters; and his grandson, Kerry Wayne Holmes.

Acey is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Pat (Walton) Holmes; his three children, Cliff Holmes, Progresso, Mexico, Connie Warnat and husband Kenneth, Lenexa, KS, Patty Holmes-Novakovich and husband John, Marshfield, MO; two brothers, Jim Holmes and wife Darlene, TX, and David Holmes and wife Carolyn, Fordland, MO; two sisters, Wilma, Pauls Valley, OK, and Janie Allen and husband Si, Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren, Tiffany, Kendrick, Kimberley, Chelsea, Chris, Charity, Michelle and Brandi; seventeen great-grandchildren, Isabel, Charlie, Maggie, Connor, Carter, Caden, Blythe, Chesnea, James, Abram, Brooklynn, Aubrey, Lucca, Hunter, Rylan, Ada, and Braelyn.

Funeral services for Acey Holmes will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2023 in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., with interment following in Shiloh Cemetery, Rogersville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday before services.
