Curtis D. Hunt

 
 

Curtis Dean Hunt departed this life on January 13, 2024, at the young age of 55 years.

Curtis was born November 13, 1968, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Bobby and Carolyn Hunt. He grew up in Tryon, Oklahoma until the age of 10. The family then moved to Marshfield, Missouri where he considered home.

Curtis was a 1987 graduate of Marshfield High School. Curtis was a long-time servant of the federal government with a total of 30 years of service. As a veteran of the United States Navy, he served in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Provide Comfort aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal.  Curtis received a National Defense Service Medal and Southwest Asia Service Medal for those tours of duty. Curtis was an electrician and a member of the USS Forrestal firefighting team during his four year US Navy Service. After the Navy he worked for the Department of Energy for 26 years at Southwestern Power. He was an electrician then became a supervisor. Curtis was extremely proud of his government service and was looking forward to his retirement in 18 months and the next chapter of his life. He was looking ahead to cooking new recipes and traveling with his wife, Laura.

In addition to his wife of almost 22 years, Curtis is survived by his only child, Cole Hunt. Cole was the light of his life and made him so proud. His parents, Bobby and Carolyn Hunt of Tryon, Oklahoma; a brother, Kevin Hunt; in-laws, Tom and Marcia Smith of Marshfield; brother-in-law, Brian Smith of Beaverton, Oregon; brother-in-law, Steve (Lori) Smith of Marshfield; nieces, Jessica (Andrew) Gieseke, Morgan (Ethan) Wilson; nephew, Weston (Kaylee) Smith; great niece, Wren; great nephews, Bennett, Greyson, and Alden; Curtis loved his dear friend Colby, and a host of many good friends. Curtis was always willing to help family and friends without hesitation when they needed it whether they liked it or not! Curtis was a good son and still called his mom every day, even at 55 years of age.

Curtis was preceded in death by his sister, Bobbie Sue Johns.

Curtis will be interred with military honors at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 24, 2024, for family and close friends, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, Missouri.
