Loren Ray Lowery

Loren Ray Lowery was born October 22, 1956, in Lebanon, Missouri, to Cleman and Joyce Lowery. Loren was the youngest of 9 children who were all raised in a loving home located just outside of Grovesprings, Missouri. He departed this life way too young at the age of 65 years on February 1, 2022 in Cox Hospital, Springfield.

Loren attended High School at Hartville, Missouri and worked hard to provide a living. Loren was employed with Loren Cook Company, in Springfield, Missouri, for 34 years as a welder. Loren took pride in his job and was very dedicated to his work.

During Loren’s free time he enjoyed anything outdoors.  While traveling he enjoyed camping and boating, at home he enjoyed riding the 4-wheelers.  He also enjoyed playing softball.  From 8 AM to 10 AM every Saturday and Sunday morning you could find him at George’s on Glenstone eating breakfast and drinking coffee with the guys as they solved all of the world’s problems.  At other times you could find Loren doing volunteer work with the D.A.V. and at all times he was a BIG fan of “The Duke” – John Wayne.

Loren married his first wife, Linda, in 1977, which ended as friends in 1995. Then in 1996 Loren and Sharlene were married, which provided Loren with an instant family. Loren took on the role of step-dad to Paige and Kyle without hesitation, and the title "Poppa" to Logan and Colton shortly after. Tragically, in 2002 the loss of baby Dakota Ray Lowery left a whole in hearts never to mend. Loren will be missed, but he is now walking hand in hand with the son he didn't get to know back 20 years ago.

Loren had struggles in life, but with his hard work and determination he completed a 12 step program in 2017. This was an accomplishment he was proud of.

Loren is survived by sisters: Norma Ross, of Cole Camp, Missouri, Flossie Young, Bess Baldwin; a brother: Elmer Lowery and wife Dixie, of Grovesprings, Missouri; Ex-wife:  Sharlene Hurt, of Republic; step-son: Kyle Houston; step-daughter: Paige Mulholland; grandchildren: Logan, Colton and Finley; and closes friends: Don Mitchell and Doc; as well as other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son: Dakota Lowery; both parents: Cleman and Joyce Lowery; two brothers: Andrew Lowery and David Lowery; and two sisters: Eunice Perry and Suzie Burchett.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February, 12, 2022, in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, 1131 State Hwy A, Marshfield, MO 65706.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, in Republic.

In Loren’s memory, memorials may be made to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) or Alcoholics Anonymous and may be left with the funeral home.
