Melba Steen

MELBA FAYE STEEN, passed away on March 24, 2023, at the age of 69, after a brave battle with cancer.  She was born in Marshfield, MO on January 23, 1954.  Daughter of Everett Fullington (1921-1997) and Frona Bell Fullington (Hayes) (1925-2014).  Beloved sister of: Wanda Pyron (1943-2010), Doyle Fullington, Nola Reecher (1948-2009), Noel Fullington, Eva Burkett, and Lois Fullington (1950-1974).  Aunt to many precious nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Niangua High School in 1972 and married Billy Wayne Steen, he was by her side until her last breath.  They had three children: Billy Wayne Steen, Jr. (Wife Jennifer Bristow), Pamela Steen, and Matthew Steen (1979-2005).

Melba worked as a seamstress most of her life.  However, her true joy was her grandchildren:  Zachery Steen, Daltin Weldon, Kyle Renshaw, Noah Steen, Alyssa Steen, Colby Steen, Bella Steen, Jackson Steen and great grandson Brantlee.  She was generous with her time as a grandma (MawMaw).  She was always ready and willing to babysit, whether it was for a day, a week, or a month.  She went to countless early morning soccer practices, football games, gymnastic sessions/meets, girl scout meetings and camping trips.

She had a selfless and enduring love for her grandchildren.  She will be missed and remembered by all that loved her.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Marshfield Church of the Nazarene with interment following in the Marshfield Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Fraker Funeral Home, 1131 State Highway A., Marshfield.
