Sarah Kay Miller
Sarah Kay (Kropf) Miller, beloved wife of Orlan D. Miller, was born to Levi and Freida (Hostetler) Kropf on August 31, 1946 near Sheffield, IL (Tampico area.)
On August 27, 2022 she passed away at the age of 75 years, 11 months, and 27 days, 4 days before her 76th birthday, at her home near Miller, MO, surrounded by the family.
She was diagnosed with early onset dementia in her late 50’s. She kept declining to the point of being put in a hospital bed on Feb. 10, 2012 and a little over a month later was completely bedfast. Her faithful husband and daughter Eva lovingly cared for her for over 10 yrs., with help from the rest of the family.
On May 14, 2021 she was diagnosed with cancer. She suffered patiently till the Lord called her home.
She accepted Christ in her youth and was baptized at Fairfield Amish Mennonite Church at Tampico, IL to which faith she remained faithful until death.
On November 26, 1964, on Thanksgiving Day, she was united in marriage to Orlan Miller, son of David and Leanna Miller at Tampico, IL, sharing the joys and sorrows of married life together for over 57 years.
This union was blessed with 13 children. She is survived by her faithful companion and 12 children, Becky and husband Donnie Headings, Salem, AR; John and wife Doris, Miller, MO; Martha, wife of Edward Kropf, (deceased), Everton, MO; Laurence and wife Rachel, Miller, MO; Esther and husband Edwin Kropf, Everton, MO; Violet and husband Eugene Kropf, Miller, MO; Arlene and husband Ben Shrock, El Dorado Springs, MO; Ervin and wife Nettie, Miller, MO; Eva of the home; Jason and wife Melissa, Miller, MO; Marcus and wife Lillian, Miller, MO; Jamie and wife Verna, Mt. Vernon, MO.
Also surviving are 95 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, 7 sisters and 3 brothers, Rhoda, wife of Fred Eigsti (deceased,) Buffalo, MO; Mary and husband Mervin Miller, Buffalo, MO; Carol and husband Ervil Kropf, Halfway, MO; Martha and husband Elmer Jr. Hostetler, Buffalo, MO; Joy and husband Dale Hostetler, Elizabeth, AR; Eunice and husband Duane Garretson, Sedalia, MO; Eva and husband Lynford Hostetler, Miller, MO; Loyal and wife Marilyn, Tampico, IL; Wilbert and wife Irene, Clarksville, AR; Sam and wife Janet, Green Forest, AR; and one sister-in-law Shirley, wife of Jake Kropf (deceased), Sedalia, MO; Two aunts, Sylvia, wife of John Blosser (deceased), Halfway, MO; Celesta and husband Chester Shrock, Halfway, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Nathan Paul who died in a farm accident at the age of 2, son-in-law Edward Kropf, great grandson Isaiah Miller, sister Ada Kropf, brother Jake Kropf and wife Darlene, brother-in-law Eldon Kempf and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins.
We have fond memories of a loving, concerned Wife and Mother while she was able and were inspired by her patience in her lengthy sickness.
A special heartfelt Thank-You to all who helped take care of our dear Mom. Mom’s presence will be greatly missed by her companion and family. Her bed in the corner is, Oh so empty. Although we weep, we grieve not as those who have no hope, looking forward to a glad reunion in Heaven.
Funeral services will be at Cedar Haven Church, Miller, at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Interment will follow in Cedar Haven Cemetery.
