Dr. Roy Wayne Manion, Springfield, was born June 16, 1947 in Blackwell, OK, to Roy and Jenna (Mounce) Manion. He departed this life on February 4, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 70.

In his youth, Roy was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Grandview High School in 1965, then went on to receive his BA at School of the Ozarks, his M.ED at SMSU, Ed.S at SMSU, and his Ed.D at University of Arkansas. Roy was superintendent of Niangua Schools, retiring in 1999. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, and was active with the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church, Niangua.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his daughter, Erin Manion; brothers Jack and Bob Manion; and his sister, Eileen Manion Warner.

He is survived by his wife, Varena, of the home; two sons, Matt Manion and Suzi, Springfield, MO, and Chad Manion and Devon, Ozark, MO; his daughter, Bethany Manion, Frankfort, KY; and three grandchildren, Brenna, Cian, and Fionn Manion.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2017, in Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., Marshfield, with full military honors following service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2017, at Hale Cemetery, Dora, MO.
