Brian James Kane Showers

Brian James Kane Showers was born in Grants Pass, Oregon on February 18, 1974 to James Showers and Cinda Lou (Williams-Mathus) Showers. Brian moved as a small child after his parents’ divorce with his mother to Denver, Arkansas. He graduated from Green Forest High School in 1994. During high school he worked at the Tyson Chicken Plant. After graduation, he started North Arkansas College in Harrison studying bioengineering but quit after the death of both parents when he was 20 years old. Brian worked several jobs to make ends meet including Tyson, Dogwood Canyon, Big Cedar, and Father Time Clock. He then followed in his father’s footsteps and decided to go to truck driving school. Brian loved driving a semi and did so until he was no longer able to because of health reasons in 2013.

Brian then moved with his sister Connie Reed and her family to Colorado for a time before they all returned to Arkansas in early 2003. Brian got a truck driving position with Milky Way Transport in February 2003. He was with a friend at Cowboy’s 2000 Nightclub in Springfield, Missouri when he met his future wife Christy in in July 2003. Brian and Christy (Tunnell) Showers were married May 6, 2006 at Mount Sinai Christian Church in Marshfield, Missouri. Brian was everything to Christy. Her rock, soulmate, inspiration, and best friend. Through all his health problems he kept such a positive attitude and always just kept on plugging along. He even went back to truck driving after his first leg amputation in 2011 to provide support. After his second leg amputation in 2013 he was unable to drive a semi, so he worked through Vocational Rehab and tested thermostats with Pro One. Brian’s vision became a problem, and he was unable to work outside the home for the last few years. But he took care of the home, cooking and cleaning while Christy worked as a registered nurse.

Brian and Christy were never blessed with children, but their dogs, Molly, Thumper, Bella, Flash, and Daisy were their “fur babies.” Brian and Christy lived in Marshfield, Missouri until 2009 when they bought a home in Elkland, Missouri. Brian and Christy started attending Ekland Independent Methodist Church and in April 2018 Brian accepted Christ as his personal savior and was baptized. There he remained a member of the church until God called him home on April 6, 2022, at the age of 48 years, 1 month, and 19 days.

Preceding him in death were his parents James and Cinda Lou Showers, his brother Charlie (Dottie) Mathus and brother Sammy Mathus. Survivors include his wife Christy Showers of the home, the best sister in the world Connie Reed (Doug), nephew Daniel, brother Jimmy Mathus (Deb), and brother Billy Mathus (Teresa), In-laws Tommy and Louella Tunnell, Lori Greene (Bob), George Tunnell (Becky), David Tunnell (Becky), hosts of nieces and nephews, along with special friends Greg and Becky Perryman, David and Brandi Stokes, Ronnie and Betsy Sandbothe.

Brian was such an inspiration to all who knew him and will be missed by all. He was taken too soon and was loved by everyone who knew him.
