Jimmy D. Sjothun
James “Jimmy” D. Sjothun, Marshfield, was born March 8, 1929 to Julius and Edith (Dimick) Sjothun. He departed this life February 7, 2023, in his home at the age of 93 years.
He joined the United States Army at the age of 18 and faithfully served his county for 20 years. While serving he earned his GED and met Nancy Jo Tunnell. They were united in marriage February 29th, 1960, he always joked it was because it was pay day. To this union four children were born, Valerie, Scott, Amy, and Mandy Jo. He also had three children from his previous marriage, James Sjothun, Jr., Julie Foster, and Jeri Lea Oleson.
When Jimmy retired from the Military, he delivered propane for over 20 years for Brooks propane company. He delivered auto parts for Singers for a short period of time.
Jimmy loved people; he never met a stranger. In his later years he took up machine embroidery, he especially loved to make baby quilts.
He is preceded by his parents; two daughters, Amy Lee Sjothun and Julie Foster; one grandson, Jacob WM. Sjothun.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sjothun, two daughters, Valerie and Gary Schuman, Lebanon, Mandy Jo and Kirk Bradford, Springfield; one son, William Scott Sjothun, Marshfield; children from a previous marriage, James Sjothun, Jr., and Jeri Lea Oleson; and three grandchildren, Josh Sjothun, Eric Sjothun, and James Nathan Foster.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the Chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., with interment following in Mt. Sinai Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday before the funeral services from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
