Kenneth Joseph Wilson (Lil Joe), 52 of Olathe, KS passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Olathe Medical Center.   

Joe was born November 7, 1968 in Springfield, MO to Joe W. and Joann (Cologna) Wilson.  He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1987 and furthered is education at Missouri Southern where he played baseball and received his bachelor's degree in education from Central Missouri.  

Joe was united in marriage to Sheri (McMullen) Wilson on November 28, 2003. They were blessed with two children, Logan and Landry. After enjoying the warm Texas weather for a few years, they moved to Olathe, KS where they have lived since 2006. 

Joe never knew a stranger and his joyful disposition was a delight to friends, family, and regulars at Buddy’s. One of Joes many enjoyments was the opportunity to coach. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and family, Beer Bellies and Snouts BBQ competitions, fishing, fire pit nights and a cold Bud Light. However, nothing gave him more enjoyment than being surrounded by friends and family where a few “Joe-isms’ were sure to be shared.  

Joe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe & Dorothy Cologna, Kenneth & Helen Wilson, his father-in-law Gene McMullen and Aunt Marilyn Wilson.  

He is survived by his wife Sheri and children Logan and Landry of the home. His parents, Joe and Joann Wilson of Gardner, KS, Sister Joni (Larry) Crouch of Olathe, KS, Mother-in-law Linda McMullen of Shenandoah, IA, sister-in-law Diane (Mike) Wilson of Shenandoah, IA, Nieces and Nephews Emilee, Curtis, Caleb, and Emerson Crouch of Olathe, KS, Bryan Wilson of Shenandoah, IA, and Beth Wilson of Omaha, NE, and numerous other family members as well as friends (most of which he considered to be family).  

Memorials in Joe’s honor are being directed to the Olathe Northwest Golf Team. 

Visitation will be from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at Porter Funeral Home, Lenexa, KS, with services following at 3:30 p.m.
