Peggy Ann Wright, daughter of Hubert J. and Fannie (Garoutte) Wingo, was born January 13, 1937 in Joplin, MO. She passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2025 in Marshfield Care Center at the age of 87.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard in 2024; and sister, Barbara Bateman.

Survivors include her daughter, LaRue Lowe, Marshfield; her son, Darrell Wright and his wife Faustina, Clarksville, TN; three grandchildren, Shaun Wright and his wife Katie, Centerville, OH, Amanda Conner-Zaruba and her husband DJ, Springfield and Cassie Lowe-Doerhoff and her husband Chad, St. Elizabeth, MO; five great grandchildren, Isabell Wright, Benjamin Wright, Aurelia Doerhoff, Aaryn Zaruba, Austyn Doerhoff and many other relatives and friends.

As a child, Peggy was raised primarily in the Kansas and southwest Missouri area. Since her father was active duty Air Force, the family moved frequently.

She graduated from high school in Bossier City, Louisiana and loved to talk about going to see Elvis Presley perform at the Louisiana Hayride.

With her parents, she moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. She trained and worked as an x-ray technician. There she met and married the love of her life, Howard, in October of 1958. They liked going to movies and to Cheyenne Frontier Days.

They started a family right away and she chose to be a stay at home mom. She made some of her children’s clothes, enjoyed flower gardening, and always had something delicious that she baked, cookies, pie, brownies, cake, etc.

Peggy returned to work as an ER admissions clerk, but was still present to attend her kids events.

She was an avid reader, mostly Christian books and her Bible. She and Howard took the family to church every Sunday. They attended various churches, but mostly the Congregational Church in Cheyenne. She wrote encouraging messages and scriptures that she shared with family. One of her favorite things was to volunteer at church.

With her love of learning, she strongly encouraged her kids to become avid readers and learn to play musical instruments. Peggy was quite proud of the collegiate education achieved by her children and grandchildren.

Peggy and Howard moved to Marshfield in 1988 to help the family care for her father. She worked as a Walmart Associate in the snack bar. They joined the Evangelical Methodist Church and later became members of the Marshfield United Methodist Church.

She treasured being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with family, going to the grandkids’ school events, going with them on car trips to see family in KY, OH, NM, going to the Black Hills in South Dakota and back to Wyoming. She loved helping to raise her two granddaughters and enjoyed going to Silver Dollar City and doing other activities with them. She was delighted when she was able to spend time with her grandson.

During her later years she loved watching numerous sports and Wheel of Fortune on TV with Howard. She taught her family humility and gratitude.

The family would also like to thank Marshfield Care Center for Peggy’s compassionate care and Dr. Sharlin’s staff for their exceptional kindness. And MUMC Members for visits and cards.
