Creed Garrett “Gary” Brooks, Marshfield, was born April 1, 1948 in Little Rock, AR to W.J. “Buster” and Dorothy (Garrett) Brooks. Gary entered into the presence of the Lord on May 14, 2023, in KU Medical Center, at the age of 75.

Gary was a beloved Christian husband, father, grandfather, and a respected businessman. Gary began working construction in the 1970’s, building houses and excavating. He enjoyed playing pool, horses, and going to auctions. He loved gathering with his family at either a campfire or the dinner table. His family will miss his guidance, his laugh, and words of wisdom. He was the friend who was always there. He had a huge heart for his family and friends. Gary had served in the United States Army. He was a member of Cowboys for Christ and The Creation Museum. Gary was a Southern Baptist, and a member of the Cowboy Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lydia (DeCarlis) Brooks, of the home; four sons, Johnathon Brooks and wife Bobbie, Marshfield, James Brooks, Tucson, Darby Felton and wife Nicole, Climax, MI, and Levi Felton and wife Jodi, Sparta; three sisters, Sharon Brimmer and husband Gary, Cypress, TX, Diane Pollitt and husband Jerry, Olathe, KS, and Teddy Love and husband Tim, Ottawa, KS; eight grandchildren, Klayton (Shayden), Jacob (Tommy), Braeden, Emma, Billy, Matthew, Lyric, Ezra, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Gary Brooks will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 19, 2023, in the chapel of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc., with interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Gary leaves a void in the lives of all those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
