Gregory John Lyell

Gregory John Lyell, Hartville, was born October 26, 1965 to Herbert and Charleen (McFarlin) Lyell in Pacoima, California. He departed this life May 15, 2023 in Cox South at the age of 57 years.

Greg is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Bobbie, who he stole from his best friend at a house party. He would not let her forget that over the course of their 35 year marriage and she will continue to love him for the rest of her life.

His sons Matthew and Michael whom he bursted with pride over their marriages to Jazmine and Draylyne. The families they created, along with how hard they work. They were his pride and joy. His oldest daughter Victoria, his first born and the one who made him a daddy, he was so proud of her loyalty and love for her family. His daughter Melissa, who he bragged upon her academic accomplishments to everyone he knew. His daughter Samantha who he doted on, especially her ability to draw and her amazing sense of humor which mirrors his perfectly.

He is survived by his foster children: Eli who he taught the basics of being a man too, how to work hard and the importance of the right pair of sunglasses; and Madison who he shared a love of hot tea, sweets, and a daily Daddy and Maddie nap time.

Greg is survived by his grandchildren Jackson, Rylan, Tucker, and Evelynn. Who he deeply loved and loved to spoil with too many treats, little gifts, and believed the word “No” should never be said within in earshot of them.

Greg is survived by his mother Charleen, who taught him a love of animals he carried with him his whole life. This love resulted in his “Hollywood movie debut” where Greg starred in an instructional video on how to care for chickens. Greg is survived by his sisters Kimberly and Priscilla and his brother Ronald, who no matter the distance he would have done anything for.

Greg is survived by not only his family but his friends. Gordon more than a friend a chosen brother. John, Roger, and Doug who he loved hearing from and seeing as much as life would allow. His “cousin-nephew” Travis who he loved sharing a good inside joke with.

Greg is an Army veteran and was an avid fisherman in his younger years. It is said that off the coast of Mexico, the Tuna still whisper his name in fear. Greg loved a good meal, a cold Diet Coke (or blue sugar free Powerade) and finding the worst movie on television to torture his family with. Greg loved road trips, visiting grocery stores in new cities just to “look around”, he loved auctions, and being a “crazy prepper”.

Greg went above and beyond his whole life for every person he knew and loved. The only solace his family can take from his passing is that he finally can know all the secrets of the universe, especially an answer the question he desperately wants to know: What happened on Oak Island?! He will be missed greatly by all….except for the tuna.
