Karlene Sue Heinkel

Karlene Sue Heinkel, Elkland, was born July 19, 1957 in Freeport, IL to Gerald and Sharon (Moore) Wachter. She departed this life on January 5, 2023 at her home at the age of 65.

Karlene was a skilled artist, a passionate gardener, a bookkeeper, lifelong farmer, rabid Chiefs fan and a proud grandmother.  

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Karlene is survived by her husband, David Heinkel of the home; her son, Cory Heinkel (Oluwaseun), Memphis, TN; her daughter, Reena deUgarte (Gustavo), Sanford, NC; five grandchildren, Makayla, Emily, Andrew, Damian, and Alyah; and her sister, Joy Schwartz (Dan), Rockford, IL.

A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023 at Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.
