Lola Hedlund Hermann

 
 

Lola Marguerite Hermann, was born in her grandparents farmhouse in Clay County, Kansas on September 17, 1924 to Lester and Viola Ruth (Macy) Fletcher. She passed away October 16, 2022, at the age of 98.

Lola grew up in Minnesota and Iowa in a pastor’s home. She attended Miltonvale Wesleyan college, where she sang in the trio. She graduated with an AA in music. She married Victor Hedlund in 1947 and they farmed near Wakefield, Kansas until they felt God’s call on their lives to move to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1953 to help plant a church. She worked as a secretary at the High School and as a nurse’s aide at West Nebraska General Hospital. Victor passed away in 1976 and Lola moved to Bartlesville, OK, where she was a secretary for Bartlesville Wesleyan Kiddie College. Lola was a very active member of Bartlesville Wesleyan Church. She loved singing in the choir, missions, and helping and serving people. Lola enjoyed reading, sewing, and baking. She loved children and caring for them. In 2001 she married William Hermann, a longtime family friend. They were married for five years before he passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Victor Hedlund; her late husband, William Hermann; two sisters, Ruth Baty and Esther Vermillion; two brothers, Albert Fletcher and Rolland Fletcher; one grandson, William Hedlund; and her stepson, Kenn Hermann.

Lola is survived by four children, Victoria Comfort (Keith), Marshfield, Kaleen Cameron, St. Louis, Kent Hedlund (Patricia), Salem, IL; Scott Hedlund (Joyce), Topeka, KS; two sisters, Carol Baas, Marion, IN, and Rebecca Engel, Avon, IN; her stepdaughter, Shari Schloesser (Paul), Bradenton, FL, and her stepdaughter in law, Linda Hermann; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.

There will be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Nazarene Church, Elkland, MO. On Friday November 18 at 11:00 a.m., there will be a service at Clay Center Wesleyan Church, 1109 Court St. Clay Center, KS with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Cremation was entrusted to the care of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc.
