Billy Henry Mansker, of Springfield, MO passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11:39 a.m. at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 6 days at Mercy Hospital due to covid.

Billy was born on Wednesday, February 18, 1948 to Earnest and Laura (Alexander) Mansker. Billy was born at home on E.E. Highway between Elkland and Marshfield, MO. Billy attended Green Valley State School as a child. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Laura, his sisters, Emma, Rose and Evelyn, his brothers James (Jounior), Johnny, Ray, Joe, Ernie, and Danny.

Billy was an exceptional person. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. If he couldn’t say something good about someone or something he would say, “That’s all I’m gonna say about that.” And once Billy made up his mind about something, believe me, there was no changing it. Billy’s favorite things to do were to read his Bible and go to church. His next favorite thing was to eat. He loved his sausage and eggs and a good cup of coffee for breakfast, a liver loaf sandwich for lunch and he really loved bean dumplings, meatloaf and mashed potatoes with a glass of Dr. Pepper for supper. He was an avid history buff, especially Springfield and Greene County law enforcement history. He could tell you every sheriff and chief of police for the last 50 years. His favorite was Sheriff John Pierpont. His memory was legendary. He had several nieces and nephews and he could tell you all of our birthdays, how old we are and what day of the week we were born on.

Life for Billy was pretty hard with his handicaps that he had to deal with but he took it all in stride. He wasn’t supposed to live past 15 years old but until this horrible, horrible covid came along, he was rockin’ 73. Billy outlived his parents and all 9 of his siblings. He was an exceptional man. As his nieces and nephews, we were very fortunate to be able to care for him all of these years. Billy taught us all a lot of things. The biggest one was how to keep your faith in the good Lord, as he always put it. Billy had a huge impact on all of us. Billy also had a lot of friends through the years. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Elkland, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Inc. Visitation will be at Pleasant View Cemetery from 9-10 a.m. before services.
