Robert Lee Sandwell, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at his home in Elkland, MO.

Robert (Bob) was born on August 3, 1928, to Robert Francis and Hattie (Hawbecker) Sandwell in Marion, KS.  Bob’s parents moved the family to Purdy, MO, where he graduated from Purdy High School. Following high school, Bob entered the army at the end of WWII and was stationed in Japan. After an Honorable Discharge in 1949, Bob studied at the University of Missouri where he obtained a degree in Agriculture and fell in love with his wife Rosemary Snodgrass.  Bob and Rosemary briefly owned “The Shack” in Columbia before moving to Omaha, NE, to work as a sheep buyer. In February, 1960, the family moved to the family dairy farm in Elkland, MO where Bob milked and back-grounded calves through retirement. He was a vibrant member of the community, serving on the Fair Grove School Board for several years and as an elder and board member of Elkland Christian Church.  Bob helped run a men’s breakfast at the church for many years. Late in life he was very proud to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marjorie Wolfenbarger and Bonnie O’Donnell and his son, Warren Sandwell.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosemary, of Elkland; his four children, The Reverend (Deacon) Rosa Leah, Tucson, AZ;  Robert and wife Julie of Elkland; Donald and wife Anita of Peculiar, MO; Lee and wife Chris of Elkland, and daughter-in-law, Mary, of Robertsville, AL. Honorary Pallbearers are the Grandchildren Erich, Rob, Warren, Jessica, Adam, Caitlin, Kierstyn, Ben, Jake, and Sydney.
