Christopher Brantley Maples

Christopher “Chris” Brantley Maples was born November 30, 1966, to Jerrel and Norma (Stewart) Maples in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life and entered the next on April 18, 2023, at the age of 56.

Chris was raised and lived his entire life in Strafford, Missouri, save for his years at School of the Ozarks. He served on the Point Lookout Fire Department while he attended and was Captain for a time. He graduated in 1990 with a degree in business and later obtained a masters education to further his career. He spent most of his professional career in Human Resources and Management.
However, Chris’ passion was farming. He resided on the family farm and raised angus cattle all of his life. In the past few years he had begun raising Wagyu cattle as well. He enjoyed restoring tractors, specifically Case tractors. He loved to hunt, fish, kayak, and go camping. He also enjoyed studying his family history and World War history. Chris valued family. He spent countless hours supporting his children at all their numerous sporting and school events. If he wasn’t in the hayfield, he was at a ball game or cross country meet. He was a member of East Sunshine Church of Christ.

He will be missed dearly. Those that knew him well will miss his contagious laugh, larger-than-life stories and wisdom, and most of all his constant love and support. He was fearless.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jerrel, and his brother, Clint Maples.

He is survived by his children, McKenzi Murphy (and husband Sawyer) of Fair Grove, Wyatt Maples and Madelyn Maples of Strafford; his mother, Norma Maples of Strafford; his siblings, Alta Patterson (and husband Steve) of Strafford, Bill Maples, Jr. (and wife Laura) of Katy, TX, Jimmy Maples (and wife Cathy) of Fair Grove; and his first grandchild, Peter Murphy. He is survived by many other family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
