Marjorie Mae Hamel Hjelmeng

          Marjorie (Marge) Hamel Hjelmeng, 99, of Marshfield passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Wedgewood Gardens in Branson West, Mo.

 

          She was born in April 12, 1918 on Washington Street in Marshfield, the daughter of  Carl and Freda Rader Hamel. She was a life long resident of Marshfield and and a  member of Marshfield United Methodist Church where she served as Communion Steward for 20 years, Marshfield Golf and Country Club, a Past Matron and 60 year member OES-Webster Chapter #439,  DAR(Johannes Nehs-Virginia), the old Sho-Me Club, and two local bridge clubs. She was also a founding member of the Webster County Sheltered Workshop which became Webco Industries.

 

          Survivors include her daughter Connie and husband John R. Johnson of Galena, Mo, two grandchildren Elizabeth H. Russell of Raleigh N.C. and Richard D. Russell and his wife Christine of Springfield Mo and two great-grand children, Annalise Russell of Shelton, Ct. and Kevin Russell of Springfield, Mo.

 

          She was preceded in death by her husband R.D.(Swede) Hjelmeng, infant daughter, Cynthia Ann, her parents, one brother Andrew Jackson Hamel and her grandmother, Laura Renner Rader who raised her from age 11.

 

          Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, at the Marshfield United Methodist Church at 10:00am with a service following at 11:00 a.m. and burial at the Marshfield Cemetery under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home of Marshfield.

 

          The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the RD and Marjorie Hjelmeng Family Fund at Community Foundation of the Ozarks and left at the Funeral Home or a charity of the donors choice.
