Rose Ann "Geraldine" Floyd

Rose Ann “Geraldine” Floyd was born on August 21, 1933. She was number twelve out of fifteen children born to Fred A. and Elizabeth (Gross) Erb in Bazine, Kansas. She departed this life for her heavenly home on November 29, 2022 at the age of 89.

She was united in marriage to Leonard E. Floyd on May 11, 1950. To this union three sons and one daughter was born. In 1956 they purchased their farm on P Highway and that is where she would live for the next 66 years.

Many people in Webster County know her as Geraldine. It was quite a surprise to her as well when she went to file her marriage certificate and it said her name was Rose Ann. Her siblings were also left in the dark on the situation and were rather confused when hearing this. The story was then told, her Mom wanted to name her Geraldine and her Dad wanted to name her Rose Ann. Her Mom was sleeping after her birth and her Dad filled out her birth certificate and sent it in. When her Mom found out what had happened she still refused to call her Rose Ann and had never told her any different.

There are some people that are blessed with a green thumb, Rose Ann had way more than that. She had the most beautiful flowers in Webster County and her garden was bountiful every single summer. She took such pride in her beautiful yard and enjoyed all the people who would stop by to admire it. She was so proud when she received yard of the month in August of 2004.

Rose Ann loved the Lord. She accepted Him at an early age and remained faithful for the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Floyd; her son, Jerry Floyd; her son-in-law, Terry Gamble; her grand-daughter Carrie Elizabeth Floyd; and several of her brothers and sisters.
