Jimmie Lee Trickey

Jimmie Lee Trickey (84) of Marshfield, MO, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022 at Cox Hospital, Springfield, MO, after a fall in his home. He was born on July 31,1938, in North Little Rock, AR, to James Lois and Decie Laura (Taylor) Trickey.

During WII, Jim’s family traveled to San Diego, CA, to find work in California armament factories. They would return to Jacksonville, AR, after the war. Jim met the love of his life, Suzanne Miller, as a high school student at Jacksonville High School. They married on October 1, 1959, in Amarillo, TX, where Jim was employed by the local NBC station, KGNC-TV (now KAMR). They added two daughters to their family before moving to Springfield, MO, in 1964. After a brief job selling sheet music, Jim began working for KY3-TV and the family welcomed one more daughter. Jim worked for KY3 for 38 years as a tv engineer. During those years, he saw many changes in how television is produced and delivered. He had a strong work ethic and only missed work after open heart surgery. He was very proud of being part of the KY3 family.

Jim was always learning new things. He had an intense sense of curiosity and spent his life educating himself, exploring a wide variety of topics. He passed on this love of learning to his girls. They often called him a true “Renaissance Man” because of the variety of his interests and knowledge. He was artistically gifted in music and art. Family members cherish the sketches, photographs, carvings, and wood-working items created by Jim. Jim and Suzanne worked together on many building projects and endeavors. After retirement, they joined the Assemblies of God RV MAPS program, helping to repair and build churches around the country.

Jim demonstrated a fierce love for his family. He often said he wouldn’t have become the man he was without his wife, Suzanne, and he didn’t hesitate to tell his daughters how much he loved them and appreciated them. He learned to express these things over the years as he sought out a close relationship with God. At his last birthday, he stated he was most thankful for being blessed to know his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jim was a member of Marshfield Assembly of God. He did not fear death but had an absolute conviction that the sacrifice Jesus made for him would be sufficient to usher him into the presence of the glory of God. And he believed this gracious gift from Jesus was available to all who believe.

He is survived by one brother, Clifton (Phyllis) Trickey of AR, and one sister-in-law, Sharon Brindle of Marshfield, MO, and their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughters and grandchildren: Elisabeth (Lawrence) Ayres of Rolla, MO, and their children Nathaniel (Christina) of Rolla, MO, Grant Ayres of MO, and Katherine (Jacob) Higgins of O’Fallon, MO; Karen (Carl) Gore, of Marshfield, MO, and their children Jennifer Gore, Daniel (McKenzie) Gore, and Laura (Jared) Minor all of Marshfield, MO; and Becky (Brad) McGoon of Marshfield, MO, and their children Olivia (Nathan) Wieneke of Springfield, MO, Adam (Hannah) McGoon of Lancaster, CA, and Samuel (Mary Katherine) McGoon of Ogden, UT.  Great grandchildren include Carissa and Noah Ayres; Mary, Annabelle, William, and Penelope Higgins; Jamison and Braeya Minor; Elowen Gore; Campbell and Eleanor McGoon; and Callaway Wieneke.
